Mark Flood
First saw a lace painting of Mark Flood in the back room of Zach Feuer before his show there in 2012. While beautiful, I thought it was too kitschy since I mistakenly thought that he actually incorporates lace/fabric onto the canvas. Fast forward to April 2013 and I have finally been educated that it's actually all paint! And I now can't stop seeing and looking at them. As a sign of serendipity perhaps, I randomly met him at a dinner two days ago and he proved to be a very charming man.
This mistake of mine is probably one I would regret for a while. And given his trajectory since the Feuer show, a very costly one too. While I may not be able to have his lovely works on my wall just now, I want them to be on this page nonetheless.
